Time Difference
Madagascar is two hours ahead of the United Kingdom and they currently observe Eastern Africa Time (EAT) all year. DST is no longer in use. Clocks do not change in Madagascar.
Money
The Malagasy Ariary is the local currency of Madagascar, where the most accepted foreign currency is the Euro, but US dollars and GBP are easily changed too. You can exchange money at banks or make withdrawals from local ATMs. Banks are open from 8am to 4pm on weekdays but they are closed the day before public holidays and weekends.
Electricity
Madagascar operates on a 220V supply voltage and there are two associated plug types, types C and E. Plug type C is the plug which has two round pins and plug type E is the plug which has two round pins and a hole for the socket's male earthing pin. While you won’t need a converter, you will need a travel adapter.
Shops and Amenities
Shops in Madagascar are typically open Monday to Saturday from 8am to 12pm and from 2pm to 6pm. The museums are open every day from 8am to 12pm and from 2pm to 5pm from Monday to Friday. The museums of Parc Tsimbazaza are open every day during normal hours.
Media
In the capital, six different television channels broadcast programs. There are over a hundred private radio stations in the country. Radio Nationale RNM and RFI are the only ones able to broadcast throughout the island and six daily newspapers are published in French and Malagasy.

Most Post Offices are open from 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday. On Saturday, they are normally open 8am to 11am and are closed on Sundays.
