As the temperature starts to drop and the days get shorter, it’s all too easy to fall victim to the dreaded winter blues. But not in Japan. Winter holidays all about getting involved in some of the many magical festivals that fill the calendar. From the Saporro Snow Festival – where you can witness the incredible ice sculptures and snow statues crafted by Japanese and international artists - to countless winter carnivals, there's plenty to keep you entertained during the colder months. If you’re after a taste of Japan's snow-capped mountains and fluffy snow, head for the Japanese Alps, renowned for its world-class skiing,
or discover a winter wonderland in Sapporo which is typically blanketed in snow until mid-March. For something even more out of this world, climb up ice wall along Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route and try ice fishing on afrozen lakes in Hokkaido. After all the icy activities during your Japan winter holidays, warm up inside and out with a tour of a centuries-old sake brewery where you can learn the best-kept secrets of this cherished Japanese alcohol and take part in a tasting.

Frances was always helpful and came up with great suggestions whilst filling in the brief we wanted. The hotels were spot on and all the booked tours and guides were fun and informative, and the concierge was always there to help us. Highlights included Takayama and Hiroshima but everything was really amazing - Japan is like no other country. The whole of the Original Team were outstanding, thank you for making it a very memorable and enjoyable holiday.
