Spring is a wonderful time of year filled with flowers in full bloom, frolicking lambs and copious chocolate eggs - the perfect prelude to the British summer season ahead. And at Original Travel UK, we just so happen to believe (with no bias whatsoever) that there's nowhere more beautiful in the world during spring than the UK and Ireland. Here are a few of our favourite experiences to enjoy this spring season…
Blossom and Bikes
Enjoy a private bike tour on a classically British Pashley bike to see some of London's best and most beautiful blossom spots. Pashley bikes are the longest-established British bicycle manufacturer; hand-built and with a unique design and quality, their craftsmanship is beautiful (and extremely Instagramable!). Starting from your hotel, head out on a bespoke blossom tour finishing with a delicious picnic hamper filled with seasonal British produce (and perhaps a few chocolate treats) in Hyde Park.
Bluebells at Blickling Hall
The English bluebell is an icon of Britain's woodlands in spring, so it's no wonder that this wild beauty has become a highlight at Blickling Estate in Norfolk. Explore the impressive historical grounds, which cover 950 acres of woodland, on a nature walk and take in the abundance of beautiful bluebells which are most spectacular between the end of April and May. After building up an appetite, reward yourself with a delicious traditional pub lunch.
Foraging For Your Food in Dartmoor
On a completely private and bespoke basis, discover the wild food secrets of Britain's hedgerows with a day in Dartmoor National Park foraging with a local wild food and mushroom expert at a renowned cookery school. Enjoy roaming around the Devon countryside learning to identify and gather your edible crop before returning to the cookery school to cook and feast upon your foraged finds.
Dolphin Spotting in Cornwall
Set sail off the coast of Cornwall from St Mawes harbour aboard a classic yacht sailing around Falmouth bay, which is one of the most beautiful and safe areas for sailing in Britain. The area also happens to be home to many dancing dolphins who may come and join you as you sail. Late spring and early summer are lovely times to set sail with warming temperatures, longer days and fewer people around than during the school summer holidays.
From Easter wreath-making workshops and a fun Easter-themed Afternoon Tea to a family-friendly bespoke Easter egg hunt at a stately home or even around the city of London, we can organise dozens of egg-cellent Easter-themed activities (eggs-cuse the pun) for all groups and ages to enjoy while on vacation across the UK and Ireland.
