On this day in 1805 the first official Trooping The Colour took place at Horse Guards Parade in London, after it was decided that a parade would mark the official birthday of The Sovereign back in 1748. This year the ceremony that celebrates the Queen's official birthday (her actual birthday is April 21st) will take place on 9th June 2018 - if you don't have tickets, a limited view can be seen on The Mall or the edge of St James's Park.
