Covering an area of 1,500 hectares and with over 50 miles of well-marked trails, the Portofino Park is a paradise for hiking enthusiasts. Head off into the heart of the park in the company of a knowledgeable local guide. With the exception of a steep initial climb, the majority of this scenic 3.7-mile route is fairly easy. Along the way you can admire this relatively wild natural environment, which is made up of magnificent landscapes, steep cliffs, seaside villages and traditional hamlets rich in art and history.

In the historic centre, you can admire the Cathedral of San Lorenzo, with its elegant façade streaked with white and black stripes; the Romanesque churches adorned with polyptychs; the delightful Piazza San Matteo; and the sumptuous palaces on Via Garibaldi, most notably those of the Rolli family. Other things to see and do in Genoa include photographing the neo-classic facades of the new town, sampling Genoese minestrone, touring Christopher Columbus's house and indulging in local delicacies at the city’s many exquisite restaurants.
