Designed for those who want to take the time to slip into the shoes of a real New Yorker, this trip plunges you into the wonderful world of two of the city’s most emblematic boroughs: Manhattan and Brooklyn. Your first stop is Manhattan’s up-and-coming NoMad neighbourhood (for ‘North of Madison Square Park’), located a few blocks from the Empire State Building and bustling Union Square. Everything here is eccentric and eclectic, a trendy enclave of diverse architecture, big-budget renovations and coveted real estate. The second part of your NYC getaway is set against the backdrop of ever-evolving Brooklyn. You’ll be staying in the northwest residential neighbourhood of Boerum Hill, where brownstones line leafy streets and fashion lovers get their shopping fix in Smith Street and Atlantic Avenue.
This is a trip that knows no seasons, or at least makes the most of them. In fine weather, it's picnics in Central Park and strolls along the Hudson; in autumn, it's back-to-school time and the changing colours; in winter, it's the magic of Christmas that takes over the streets and the ice rink at Rockfeller Center…

Your itinerary:

The list of experiences in New York is almost endless and we can tailor an agenda to suit your tastes. You’ll have a Metro Pass waiting for you on arrival, the precious key for reaching every nook and cranny of the city. We’ll also arrange for you to have access to electric bikes for a few hours so you can whizz through New York’s parks and neighbourhoods like a local. To really get your bearings, use your tickets for the Summit One Vanderbuilt observatory, the second-highest in the city after the One Trade Center and the perfect spot for sweeping city views. In Brooklyn you’ll have the opportunity to explore the neighbourhoods of Brooklyn Heights and Dumbo (where you can stop for an iconic photo at the Manhattan Bridge Viewpoint) in the company of a knowledgeable local guide. Round off your walking tour with a visit to the Brooklyn Tabernacle Church to attend a gospel mass. You’ll also have round-the-clock access to our wonderful Concierge team, who can help you plan any last-minute experiences and bag you a table at the hottest restaurants in town.

Your hotels in Manhattan and Brooklyn:

To get a better feel for the energy of each district, we've hand-picked hotels that perfectly reflect the spirit of their surroundings. In Manhattan's fashionable NoMad district, make yourself at home in an intimate, cosy and effortlessly stylish hotel. Interior features include studded leather sofas, retro lighting, vintage telephones, vinyl turntables, exposed brick walls, faded carpets and colourful velvet cushions. In Brooklyn, you'll be staying in an impressive building on Boerum Hill. Inside, the atmosphere is both timelessly vintage and resolutely trendy, a clever mix of styles and eras that attracts a cool crowd. It has a relaxed 'home away from home' feel and is a spot designed as much for passing visitors as for locals.

MANHATTAN LIKE A LOCAL

Head out for a laid-back private stroll around Downtown Manhattan in the footsteps of a local New Yorker. You’ll start with a walk through Greenwich Village, one of Manhattan's most sought-after residential areas and the setting for several popular films and TV series, including Friends. Continue on to the trendy neighbourhood of Soho, with its beautiful cast-iron buildings and enticing luxury boutiques. Round off your walking tour in charming Little Italy and Chinatown, two neighbourhoods that pay homage to the communities around the world that have crossed an ocean in search of the American Dream.

GUIDED BIKE RIDE THROUGH CENTRAL PARK

Cycling through Central Park is one of the best ways to appreciate not just its magnitude, but its many hidden gems. You’ll set off in the company of clued-up local guide to see some of the park’s best sights, including the Literary Promenade, the Bethesda Fountain and Terrace, the Sheep Meadow, the park's largest pond, the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, and the Strawberry Fields memorial to John Lennon.

WATCH A MUSICAL ON BROADWAY

The pulsating rhythms of Chicago, the international hits of Michael Jackson, the magical world of Oz and the great Disney classics of our childhoods are all themes that inspire the grandiose shows for which Broadway is so famous. Our team will share what’s on during your time in New York City and we’ll book you tickets for a show on the ultimate stage.

BROOKLYN IN A VINTAGE SIDECAR

You’ll be collected at the foot of your hotel by a local New York artist and taken on a vintage bike through Brooklyn's parks and brownstones. One person will climb on to the back of the bike, while the second will settle into the comfortable sidecar. This is a great – and memorable – way to see Brooklyn from a whole new perspective.
