With Helsinki as the gateway, you’ll spend time discovering two major European cities: Helsinki and Stockholm. Helsinki is an overwhelmingly verdant city, with more than 30% of the area devoted to green spaces, as well as a passion for design that will be evident to any architecture enthusiasts. Like the whole of Finland, it's a vibrant, safe and nature-friendly city. Enjoy fresh seafood at a restaurant with sea views and rest weary legs by the fire after a day of exploring the city on foot or by bicycle.

Travel by overnight ferry, departing from Helsinki in the early evening so you can still admire the fjord in daylight, arriving the next morning into the peaceful port of Stockholm.

Stockholm harmoniously combines tradition and modernity, with a blend of more futuristic urban planning and expansive green spaces. Built across 14 islands, the capital can be discovered on foot or by ferry, hopping across the archipelago and soaking in the salty fresh air. It is an ideal place to recharge your batteries, with an array of world-class galleries and museums on your doorstep.

Route

Everything is 100% tailored to you
DAY 1

ARRIVE IN HELSINKI

Your Scandinavian weekend getaway begins today. Head to the airport and hop aboard your two-hour-fifty-minute flight to Finland’s capital. Privately transfer to your hotel right in the city centre, where you will spend the next two nights.

DAY 2

EXPLORING HELSINKI

Rise and shine for a day spent exploring the city. Helsinki is a breeding ground of culture and architecture which can be seen through the city's main sights: Senate Square and Temppeliaukio Church (which is cut into the rock) as well as Seurasaari Open Air-Museum and Suomenlinna Fortress. We’d recommend relaxing in a traditional wood-fired sauna before tucking into a picnic on-the-go at the covered market in Kauppahalli. If the sun is out, grab a bike for a cycling tour, have brunch at the Academic Bookstore or browse Marimekko for interior design inspiration. You will be given a Helsinki Card, which gives you easy and hassle-free access to transportation, and entry to some of the city's top museums. Enjoy a delicious dinner in one of the city’s many tastebud-tingling restaurants; just ask our Concierge for recommendations.

DAY 3

HELSINKI'S FINAL DELIGHTS

Spend a day in Helsinki taking in a few more sights and making the most of this pretty Scandi city. You could wander down to the Old Town and grab a coffee and a bite to eat or even sneak a peek at Helsinki Cathedral’s stunning architecture. At the end of the day, you’ll hop on the overnight 17-hour ferry that’ll take you to Sweden and Stockholm’s archipelago. Check into your cabin on board and enjoy a delicious breakfast in the morning overlooking the jaw-dropping fjord.

DAY 4

ARRIVE IN STOCKHOLM

You’ll arrive in Stockholm by boat this morning. From here you will be able to discover the city and enjoy a two-night stay. Head to the Royal Palace to watch the changing of the guard or rummage through the legendary record store of Pet Sounds Records for a tune you like. If you are feeling peckish, try out the gastronomic delights at the Östermalms Saluhall before burning off some energy dancing in a chic bar in Stureplan. Or enjoy the outdoors with a day sailing to Fjäderholmarna before discovering the fjord by boat. End the day wandering the trendy boutiques in Södermalm and stroll through the colourful little streets of the old town.

DAY 5

STOCKHOLM: A CONTEMPORARY AND STYLISH CITY

Today you can explore Stockholm with a private expert guide. The city is welcoming, with a lively but peaceful pace and boasts a harmonious combination of traditions and new trends, and there are plenty of green spaces alongside its more modern architecture. Your design and architecture tour begins by exploring the Golden Triangle of Design in Stockholm's chicest district. It features the most fashionable galleries and showrooms as well as the great classics of Scandinavian design. Next up is the popular Södermalm district, where you can admire the district's modern and traditional architectural highlights before enjoying one last dinner to round up your weekend away.

DAY 6

TIME TO HEAD HOME

Sadly, it is back to reality today. Head to the airport to catch your flight home.

A la carte

Bespoke Stockholm

We can offer you an itinerary that is alive with experiences that take you beyond the traditional sightseeing tours. In Stockholm, we recommend a lunch cruise aboard an authentic wooden schooner from 1909, the perfect opportunity to see the region from the water. Alternatively, take a 90-minute tour of the city by speedboat or by kayak for a more adventurous journey. Another unusual element to a family trip is to head out of the centre of Stockholm to experience a night safari to spot moose and other wildlife in the woods surrounding the capital. A floating sauna, sea fishing, a cycling tour through the city and a rooftop walk along the listed buildings in the city's old town of Gamla Stan are all musts when visiting Stockholm.
