Day 1: Arrive in Stockholm

Spend your first morning immersing yourself in Stockholm's famous art culture.

Meet your transfer driver at the airport and gaze out of the window as you arrive into this trendy water-front city, and head to your hotel to drop your bags.

There are a host of galleries to visit and a range of artistic goodies to please a variety of tastes. Fotografiska is a hot attraction for contemporary photography and housed in an industrial building. The complex of galleries at Industricentralen displays the work of internationally acclaimed contemporary artists and for something slightly different, wander around the world's first open air museum, Skansen , which will take you back in time to the old houses and farmsteads of the locals from the 16th century.

Take a break and refuel with a traditional smorgasbord meatball dish before embarking on your afternoon of naval history. The Vasa museum is a must see, home to the Vasa ship, the only surviving 17th Century ship in the world which has been preserved after spending 333 years hidden on the sea bed.

In keeping with your day full of artistic delights, head to one of Stockholm's restaurants borne from the New Nordic culinary concept for a sophisticated and contemporary twist on Swedish cuisine. Then, if you fancy a taste of local nightlife, head to a bar, many of which turn into lively dance arenas come midnight.

Head to The Royal Palace, one of the largest in Europe, in time for the changing of the guard ceremony complete with military band. After which, you can wander among the baroque architecture and marvel at royal treasures kept within the three museums. Spend your afternoon at leisure in this charming region of Stockholm, stroll the cobbled streets and stop for a drink in one of the quaint cafes. The Nobel Museum, Post Museum and The Royal Coin Cabinet are all located in this region should you be tempted.

Day 3: Fly to Swedish Lapland

Get up bright and early this morning for a short flight from Stockholm to Lulea, where a driver will meet you and transfer you around 40 minutes into the heart of Swedish Lapland and your hotel, Aurora Safari Camp.

Put on a pair of snowshoes and spend your first morning exploring the area and taking in the beautiful views of the forest and frozen river. For a higher adrenaline activity, take a fatbike or kicksled and whiz through the snow and ice. Alternatively, take a guided tour around the Rane River Valley in a snowmobile, stopping for a warm drink during your expedition. Take part in a photographic workshop this afternoon so you can capture your picture perfect surroundings during your stay. As darkness falls and with no artificial light in sight, gaze up at the Northern Lights in all of their glory - this is an excellent chance to show off your newly learned skills.

Look out for the local wildlife, including moose, red fox, reindeer and roe deer as well as an abundance of birds. On your return, you can channel your inner artist, as you will be provided with professional ice tools and a large block of ice from the lake to sculpt into a shape of your choice.
