The ash preserved the city, and creates an unremarkable snapshot of Roman life, frozen at the moment it was entombed. Experience this magnificent site and walk between the ruins at sunset, before being privately transferred back to your hotel in Naples.

After a leisurely breakfast, you will journey on the train from Naples to Sorrento, which should take just under an hour and a half. This coastal town in southwestern Italy faces the Bay of Naples on the Sorrentine Peninsula. Perched atop cliffs that separate the town from its busy marinas, this is a spot perfect for snapping and you can wander the warren of narrow alleys home to shops, cafes and more. A relaxed afternoon is on the cards before the evening sets in. Once in Naples, you will board a train to shoot you back up the centre of Italy in four-and-a-half hours, to the fashion and commercial capital, Milan. This afternoon your guide will take you to the famous Duomo, where a spectacular tour will teach you all about the history of Milan and give you a fresh insight into this intriguing and prosperous city. No last day would be complete without the opportunity to see the world-renowned Leonardo da Vinci masterpiece: The Last Supper. The painting represents the scene of the Last Supper of Jesus with his apostles, as it is told in the Gospel of John, 13:21 and with your skip-the-line tickets you can appreciate the magnitude of this piece up close.
