Tuscany Holidays

Even by Italian standards, Tuscany is a region of outstanding natural beauty and cultural riches - historic towns packed with architectural and artistic treasures, and surrounded by picture-postcard landscapes of rolling hills and cypress trees.

Tuscany's highlights include Siena, which hosts the famous annual Palio horse race; the wonderfully preserved medieval city of San Gimignano, with its soaring towers; Pisa with its soaring and leaning tower; and, of course, Florence, the 'cradle of the Renaissance', with its magnificent duomo, Uffizi gallery and Ponte Vecchio.

We also know the little gems off the beaten track such as the lovely medieval town of Lucca with it's perfectly preserved walls that you can bicycle round, and some of Tuscany's finest vineyards for private wine tastings. Added to this, Tuscany has miles of Mediterranean coastline. All rather perfect, we think you'll agree.

Visit Perugia and Lake Trasimeno

Visit Umbria's hilltop capital, Perugia, and explore its cobbled streets and piazzas, such as the Piazza IV Novembre, the city's former political centre. Perugia was once part of the Etruscan kingdom before coming under Roman rule in 40 BC, so there is plenty of history to be discovered. From the city, head to nearby Lake Trasimeno, another underrated Italian gem with its small islets and waterside towns.
