Rome might just be our favourite city in Europe so it's even
more brilliant that is also works for families. And any country
that predominantly serves pizza, pasta and ice cream is bound to go
down well with children. So even if they turn their noses up at
sight-seeing, remember that sampling the local cuisine is just as
much a part of the cultural immersion of visiting a new city as a
museum can be.

Dubai is almost other-worldly in its architecture and man-made
islands, and there is no shortage of things to see and do here
either. Gawp at the world's tallest building (although good luck
trying to get the whole thing in one photo), explore the souqs,
relax on the beach or even take the children skiing in the indoor
ski slope found in one of the largest shopping malls in the
Dubai and Rome might be almost as different as you can get in
terms of two family city breaks, but they are both brilliant
examples of how a city can make a perfect destination for a family
vacation, with enough to keep both parents and children happy.
