The whole experience was spell-binding
Trinidadian gospel soul singers, Spanish Flamenco, gypsy guitar, UK beat boxing and vocal percussionists performing in collaboration with folk musicians from across Rajasthan in India. Yup. The word unique doesn't do the experience justice - the RIFF Festival hosts the most extraordinary performances I've ever seen.
The RIFF festival is timed to coincide with the brightest full moon of the year in northern India. These spectacular concerts are in and around the breathtaking backdrop of the Mehrangarh Fort. The festivities are spread over three days and four nights during which you're engulfed in an explosion of jewelled camels, folk music, arts and crafts from across the globe.

At the end of last year's festival a Spanish gypsy guitarist was having a dance off with a local Rajasthani girl - amazing! The festival aims to boost the livelihoods of the talented musicians and craftspeople of Rajasthan, who are facing poverty and the erosion of traditional rural communities.
