Relaxing Holidays: Fly and Flop

Relaxing Holidays: Fly and Flop

If day-to-day life is a whirlwind of chaos, long hours at work and too little sleep, you'd be forgiven for wanting to do absolutely nothing when on holiday.

So if you're on the hunt for warm, sunny climes, luxury hotels catering to your every whim, and beautiful surroundings, then let us help. We've relaxed as hard as anyone, and our favourite exclusive escapes are...

Classic Greece

An oldie (literally) but a goodie, Greece has magnificent mainland beaches as well as its infamously beautiful islands. Accommodation standards and options are good too; with everything from private hire villas to swanky hotels. The great food should not be forgotten either...

Laidback Anguilla

The Caribbean is perhaps the ultimate beach holiday destination. If we had to pick, Anguilla is our favourite of the laidback sunny islands owing to its wonderful Viceroy hotel, picture-perfect beaches, fantastic seafood cuisine, and the fact that it's still pretty quiet on the tourist front.

Stunning scenery in French Polynesia

The stunning island of Bora Bora in French Polynesia is surrounded by shallow turquoise lagoon waters, and the edged by a palm fringed shoreline. One of the most beautiful places in the world, ideal for appreciating from a hammock strung up between two palm trees.

Cyprus en famille

The short-ish flight time combined with very family-friendly hotels (great for grown-ups too though) make Cyprus an ideal family holiday destination for those on the hunt for sun with family in tow. The warm weather lasts from Easter holidays right through to October half-term, rather considerately.

Paradise islands in the Maldives

For white sand, clear turquoise sea, island location, and luxurious accommodation, the lovely islands of the Maldives are second to none. Here hotels tend to take over entire atolls (tiny islands), often with the option of staying in over water bungalows. Many hotels have first class spas too - the Huvafen Fushi resort is indeed home to the world's first underwater spa!

Winter sun in Oman

A great winter sun destination, Oman enjoys warm sunny weather for most of the year. Miles of gorgeous beaches are backed by mountains and occasionally spotted with swanky hotels. Here you can do as much or as little as you like; there are activities aplenty as well as the opportunity to relax as much as you like.

Beaches and bars in Miami

The Sunshine State's very own Miami is awash with stylish hotels set along a glorious beach. The weather is (as its nickname suggests) consistently warm and sunny, and when the sun does set the city comes to life with neon signed bars setting the scene for the buzzing nightlife. If you fancy a day out of the sun, Miami has great shopping and a design district to explore.

Something for everyone in Tanzania

An ideal spot for anyone wanting to combine a fly-and-flop holiday with a bit of action, Tanzania has a beautiful coastline and islands (with great diving), and some of the world's top safari spots too. A few miles off the coast are the Spice Islands of Pemba, Zanzibar and Mafia Island, each with spectacular white sand beaches.

Totally irresistible Thailand

Both the spectacular scenery of Thailand's west coast beaches and islands and the incredibly high quality of accommodation offered here make this a top spot for beach holidays. Add to this the superb Thai cuisine, welcoming people and fascinating culture and you'll never want to holiday anywhere else.

Sun and sea in Egypt

For all but guaranteed sunshine, Egypt's Red Sea coastline has a wealth of swanky five star hotels strung along its beaches. Perfect for unwinding on the beach or poolside, there are desert activities, golf and diving also available here. Further afield Egypt does of course have lots of history to discover too; the Pyramids at Giza for starters.
