I would wholeheartedly recommend Thailand to anyone...
Perfect for couples and families
I have recently returned from one of OT's truly indulgent luxury holidays to Thailand, where I was a guest of Six Senses Resorts & Spas, and was lucky enough to visit the new property Soneva Kiri on the island of Koh Kood close to Koh Chang in the Gulf of Thailand. The setting is truly stunning and the plane journey in the 8-seater Cessna was a magical experience in itself, flying over various beautiful and barely inhabited islands. The resort is an ideal retreat for couples, with every room having its own large pool and vast living area, but it also has a great kids' club which has been built in the shape of a manta ray... definitely somewhere I would want to hang out if I was still a kid!
Privacy guaranteed
Then moving on down to the islands of Phuket, I visited the Hideaway on Yao Noi island which certainly stays true to its name. The resort is extremely private and secluded with the most spectacular views across Phang Nga Bay out to the numerous small islands that rise up out of the sea; and perfect for those wanting to get away from it all.
Onto the spa...
After the hideaway I was treated to a short stay at Phuket's Six Senses Destination Spa, which one can't fail to leave feeling utterly relaxed and rejuvenated. The spa even has a raw food restaurant that serves only nuts and vegetables - may sound very dull indeed but I can highly recommend it as they do some amazing things with their ingredients!
Evason Phuket
Moving on, the next resort of Evason Phuket was a totally different experience; after spending nearly a week hidden away on peaceful island retreats I felt a bit as though I'd come back to earth! This resort is very large and ideal for families; with big gardens, three different swimming pools, four restaurants and its own private island a short longtail boat ride away, where the resort has a private beach with salas, a restaurant and also various watersports.
Samui
Finally, I flew over to the island of Samui and spent my last day not only feeling particularly miserable about the prospect of returning to chilly climes, but also experiencing the top level service that the Six Senses Hideaway has to offer. As a destination Samui feels a lot more relaxed than Phuket, partly due to the fact that it is much smaller but also because it is not quite as developed and therefore has a slightly slower pace. All in all, I would wholeheartedly recommend Thailand to anyone, whether first-time visitors, or those thinking of visiting again, as it truly is the 'land of smiles', where service is second to none, the beaches and hotels are stunning and finally it won't break the bank as prices are very reasonable!
