France is the most visited country on Earth, and with extremely good reason. Choosing one Travel Stories from all that l'Hexagone has to offer is nigh on impossible, so we thought we'd go with the newest.
Introducing Le K2 in Courchevel 1850, which opens today. We were there last week, and in our humble opinion this is one of the most exciting hotel openings anywhere in the world this year.
Chalet chic
Le K2 is a new venture from the designers of the 5* Le Kilimanjaro hotel, and will up the glitz factor in the chi-chi village of Courchevel even higher. The 50 large rooms and suites, grouped into chalets, line the Cospillot ski slope with panoramic views of the piste, and there are also five 5- or 6-bedroom chalets, each with living rooms, dining rooms, home cinemas, infinity pools and hammams or hot tubs. Additional personalised services are available, such as butler, chef or housekeeping services.
Needless to say the in house restaurants are out of the top drawer. The gastronomic restaurant - all mountain top décor - is overseen by Michelin starred Nicolas Sale and the hotel also has another more informal Black Pyramide restaurant as well.
