Toubkal National Park lies in the Atlas Mountains and borders Morocco's most popular city, Marrakesh. It is home to snow-capped peaks, Berber villages and an astonishing ecosystem on the slopes of the highest peak in Morocco, Mount Toubkal which stretches to a staggering 13,671ft. The rugged foothills are riddled with trails that gift hikers with breath-taking views, natural pools and incredible wildlife. The pre-Sahara plains are part of a vital migration path used by countless species of birds during their annual migrations, including the Northern Bald Ibis, which is on the brink of extinction.
Other rare animals include atlas bears, gold eagles, gazelles and wild boars that roam freely and can even be seen grazing near campsites. If you're looking for a more thrilling experience, try horse riding, caving and canyoning through the scenic valleys. Or, if it’s a hit of culture you’re after, visit charming Berber villages throughout the Toubkal National Park, where you can learn the ancient art of rug making, try your hand at making some delicious Moroccan cuisine or just relax and slow down to the leisurely pace of village life.
