The iconic Giraffe Manor is a peaceful retreat and the ideal place to start or end a safari in East Africa. Located in Nairobi’s leafy Langata suburb on a 140 acre sanctuary of indigenous forest, Giraffe Manor offers a unique opportunity to meet and interact with the resident giraffe, all of whom are the endangered Rothschild species.

With just 12 luxury rooms, this is one of the most exclusive places to stay in the city. The property dates back to the 1930's and it's colonial elegance has been carefully retained while managing to upgrade its facilities to suit modern tastes. There are now two buildings; the main Manor House and the adjacent Garden Manor, with rooms split evenly across the two. In both buildings the décor is plush but neutral, featuring antique furniture, four poster beds and large stone framed windows to let in lots of light (and giraffe heads). Of the 12 rooms, two are spacious suites which feature additional private mezzanine areas that can sleep two children.

A stay at Giraffe Manor will always be full board and include multi-course meals as well as most drinks. These can be enjoyed in the gardens or in the large dining room which forms a centre point of the property. One of the signature experiences will even see guests sharing their breakfast with the giraffes who come to join them here, through the huge dining room windows. As well as watching these inquisitive gentle giants as they say hello, guests can also feed and photograph them.

During a stay, other optional activities include visiting the neighbouring AFEW Giraffe Centre to learn more about the Rothschild species of giraffe and the amazing work being done to protect and grow their population here. As well as giraffe the property is also home to many species of birds, large families of warthogs and the elusive Bush Buck, all of which can be spotted in and around the manor grounds. Additionally, the manor is also within easy reach of the main attractions in Nairobi, including the Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage and Karen Blixen Museum.
