FLIGHT TO ATHENS
Depart from London with an early morning flight, arriving in Athens just in time for lunch. You’ll be here for two nights, so unpack and ready yourself for a late afternoon of wandering and an evening of wining and dining - Grecian style - where our friendly local Concierge can recommend the best eateries.
ATHENS EXPLORATION
Athens is a city where the past and present are continually married, with ancient monuments and unforgettable museums sitting alongside more modern architecture, all dominated by the silhouette of the Acropolis. You can discover all this and more with a private half day guided tour, where you’ll delve into the city's architecture, history and culture. Walk the streets of the Greek capital that connect the past with the present; discover the Ancient, Ottoman, Neo-classical and modern eras; see the monuments of the industrial revolution within the 19th century royal palace; stroll through quaint and colourful markets; stumble upon prisons of the Second World War and truly immerse yourself in the life of historic Greece. The rest of your day is yours to explore, with plenty of fine dining options for the evening.
ATHENS TO SPETSES
Today it’s time to wave goodbye to the hustle and heat of the city, in search of some beach themed escapism. Transfer to the port of Piraeus and cross either by ferry or private cruise to the island of Spetses, where you’ll be staying for the next three nights. If you opt for a private cruise, you could spend the day on the water looking for hidden beaches, sand-coated shores and warm waters perfect for diving into. Once you arrive on the island, you’ll be transferred to your hotel, where you can unpack and ready yourself for an evening spent exploring and, more importantly, eating.
SPETSES CONTINUED
You’ll soon discover that Spetses is the perfect island to reconnect with nature and embrace the slower pace of life, with plenty of water-based activities thrown in for good measure too. From day boat tours to hidden and secluded beaches and trips to the amphitheatre-shaped port of Hydra, to fishing excursions and sea swims, there’s plenty to do during your stay. The island isn’t just for aqua lovers, in fact those favouring a land-based adventure will have plenty of opportunities to bike, hike and horse ride their way around too. You could gain inner peace practicing the art of Tai Chi, try your hand at beekeeping or enjoy the fruits (or loaves) of your labour with a bread making workshop. However you opt to spend your time on Spetses, you’ll be sure to fall for its undeniable charm and allure.
SPETSES - ATHENS - RETURN FLIGHT
Sadly, it’s time to say a?t?? sa? (or goodbye) to your Grecian adventure and head back to the port for the crossing to Piraeus. You’ll then be transferred to Athens Airport for your return flight home, arriving back in the late afternoon.
Or, for those unable to part with the Grecian sun just yet, you could add on a few extra days exploring the island of Hydra, just across the water from Spetses. Hydra offers the perfect romantic setting for some extended rest and relaxation. You can wander the bougainvillea-lined cobbled streets that lead to the harbour and explore on foot, by boat or mule. The perfect addition to an already incredible trip.
A la carte
Private cruise to Spetses
The captain speaks English. Join him for a day of sailing to see the island from the sea. It's how the fishermen see it. It's an authentic Greek experience. On route, you'll go to hidden beaches, where you can dive alone in the clear water or laze on the sand. You'll feel a sense of intimacy.Optional
With a few extra days: Hydra
Just a few nautical miles from Spetses is Hydra. The island is worth a visit for its romantic setting, the bougainvillea, its orange and lemon trees, and for its old harbour and ship owners' houses. You can travel on foot, by boat or mule; not unlike Spetses, engines have no place on Hydra. This is sure to give you a real change of scenery and a few days in Greece from way back when.Optional
